The discussions were also attended on behalf of the University by Professor Andrzej Stateczny, a member of the Committee. The first day of the meeting was devoted to discussing the Committee’s ongoing activities, including updating information presented on its website, the GeoIntegracja 2.0 programme, the Committee on Geodesy award for an outstanding doctoral dissertation, and the evaluation of scientific journals.
On the second day of the proceedings, participants attended a lecture entitled ‘From Land Checkerboard to Digital Spatial Model: Evolution, Contemporary Challenges, and the Future of Land Consolidation’, and were introduced to the activities of the Kraków geodetic centre. During the meeting, Committee members also had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Science Excellence Council and matters relating to the scientific semi-annual journal Advances in Geodesy and Geoinformation.
The Committee on Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences is a self-governing representative body for the discipline of geodesy and cartography, dedicated to integrating scholars from across Poland. Established in 1952, it was initially affiliated with the PAS Division III of Mathematical, Physical, Chemical, and Geological-Geographical Sciences, and subsequently from 1978, with Division VII of Earth and Mining Sciences. The PAS Committee on Geodesy brings together experienced scholars conducting research into broadly defined geodetic issues.
