Dr Mateusz Gil Included in List of Top Young Scientists in Poland

Dr Mateusz Gil, an assistant professor in the Faculty of Navigation, has been named among a group of the 54 best young scientists in Poland and the only 3 awarded the highest level of financing, 1.8 million PLN, for an original research and implementation programme, as part of the LIDER XV Programme.

The Lider Programme is a unique initiative that provides a firm foundation for enhancing the competitiveness of Polish science and a new generation of Polish researchers on the international stage. It aligns with global trends in developing new funding instruments for breakthrough research carried out by young scientists, enabling them to expand their competencies in independently planning research activities, managing their own teams, and creating innovations that change the world.

During the ceremonial jubilee gala for the 15th cycle of the LIDER programme, which took place in the auditorium at Warsaw University of Technology, Dr Mateusz Gil was presented with a certificate and a symbolic cheque from Marcin Kulasek, Minister for Science and Higher Education, Professor Marek Gzik, Deputy Minister for Science and Higher Education, and Professor Jerzy Małachowski, Director of the National Research and Development Centre for the implementation of a project entitled: MARINERS – Maritime Autonomous Routing, Interactive Navigation and Evasion Response System. The project, whose potential has been recognised by the Lider Programme, focuses on the development of a navigational, distributed decision-making system that enables effective collision avoidance for autonomous maritime vessels.

Congratulations! You’ve made us proud.
