GMU Attends Seminar in Connection with Cooperation with State Fire Service Academy and SR Robotics

In connection with the contract signed between Gdynia Maritime University and the Fire Academy and the implementation of the cooperation agreement between GMU and SR Robotics, on 16 July 2025, a seminar was organised at the Lech Kobyliński Ship Manoeuvring Research and Training Centre in Kamionka near Iława.

Taking part in the seminar were HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit and the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation, Dr Tomasz Neumann. The seminar was organised by staff at the Ship Operations Department in the Faculty of Navigation at GMU. 

Also in attendance at the seminar were:

  • Józef Galica - Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the National Fire Service,
  • Dr Tomasz Zwęgliński – Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs at the State Fire Service Academy,  
  • Anna Białkowska – Deputy Director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia,
  • Tomasz Borowik - Member of the management board of the company SR Robotics,
  • Jacek Nowicki - President of the Foundation for Maritime Safety and Environmental Protection,
  • Rear Admiral (Ret.) Marian Ambroziak,
  • Representatives of the Provincial Fire Service Command of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian Regions, and GMU staff.

The agenda for the presentations and speeches covered research and development, the deployment of autonomous and remotely controlled vehicles in rescue operations, the environmental monitoring of water bodies, including the underwater and port areas, and operator training.

Demonstrations of autonomous and remotely controlled vehicles were given on Slim Lake at the Ship Manoeuvring Research and Training Centre.
