GMU Signs Letter of Intent with OPEC
On 31 July 2025, GMU signed a letter of intent with District Heating Company (OPEC). The document was signed by HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit, and the President of the Management Board of OPEC, Wojciech Folejewski and the Company’s Financial Director, Iwona Siewert.
The letter of intention envisages long-term collaboration, as part of which the two sides have declared their willingness to undertake a range of activities in relation to the development of the scientific and professional potential of GMU students, including internships and work placements. In order to strengthen this area of its activity, OPEC has permitted its internal Scientific Council to collaborate with Gdynia Maritime University. Recognising the potential for cooperation in the areas of environmental protection and the development of technologies leading to a green transition, the Parties have also declared their intention to undertake joint initiatives, including research projects.
Also representing GMU at the meeting were Dr Sambor Guze, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs; Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, Deputy Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Development; and GMU Chancellor, Filip Malata. Taking part in the meeting on behalf of OPEC were Maciej Bodal, Head of the Department of Project and Product Development; Marta Mongiało, Senior Specialist for HR Development; and Kamil Roszkowski, Senior Specialist for Communications and International Development.
