2021/2022 Academic Year - Organisation of Classes
As is tradition, the new academic year 2021/2022 will begin on 1st October. The decision has been made to gradually return to the usual form of education at Gdynia Maritime University, which in effect means that courses will be delivered in a hybrid format; both on campus in the classroom and remotely online using distance-learning methods and techniques, with traditional face-to-face learning to be favoured.
Therefore, classes will mainly be held in the usual manner. However, all lectures attended by a large number of students shall take place online. This does not apply to academic subjects covered by the provisions of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). Classes related to these subjects will take place face-to-face in the normal way.
Physical education and language classes will also be held as normal at the University.
Students will be kept informed by the Deans of all classes scheduled to be delivered only remotely online or using a mix of remote online and face-to-face teaching. This information will be available on the faculty web pages.
Exams, tests and all other forms of assessment are due to take place on campus.
All face-to-face classes will be held in accordance with the necessary sanitation requirements and the recommendations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Infrastructure, and the Chief Health Inspectorate.
The format and rules concerning the conduction of classes are subject to change, depending on the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic. If new applicable legislation is introduced during the 2021/2022 academic year, the guidelines concerning the organisation of classes mentioned here shall remain applicable, as long as they are not in conflict with the new regulations.
A Rector’s Decree outlining in more detail the organisation of the education process at Gdynia Maritime University from 1st October 2021 will be published following the release of the recommendations of the competent minister for the new academic year.
Places in the University’s student halls of residence are currently being allocated. Student accommodation will be provided in compliance with the applicable recommendations and guidelines of the Chief Health Inspectorate.
