During the meeting, the Rector Professor Adam Weintrit outlined the most important activities and arrangements concerning the state of play of current projects carried out by individual consortiums and research teams within the Association, and research projects were chosen to receive financing from the Nippon Foundation. The host of IAMU AGA 2024 was decided as Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

On 19th October, the Rector took part in the Annual General Assembly of IAMU AGA 2022, during which the composition of the International Executive Board was approved for the next term of office. Our University was once again included in the pool of At Large Representatives. The day also saw a traditional gathering of rectors of maritime higher education institutions for the so-called President's Forum.

During the next two days, the delegates took part in a conference entitled "Best Practice: MET and Research for Sustainable Development”. One of the sessions - concerning the implementation of research projects financed by IAMU funds - was chaired by Dr Adam Przybyłowski, GMU Associate Professor.  During the session, Kamil Formela from the Department of Navigation and students of the 3rd year of the Faculty of Navigation, Patrycja Boratyńska and Wojciech Kołodziejak, attending remotely online, presented their papers on the topic of the conference.

GMU’s participation in the conference provided an excellent opportunity to maintain and expand the University’s network of international contacts. As part of numerous meetings and discussions, the Rector of the University, Professor Adam Weintrit discussed potential initiatives and projects that could be carried out in the future with the representatives of other universities. The next IAMU conference is scheduled to take place in October 2022 in Batumi, Georgia.
