Marita Balks

Marita Balks is full professor at the University of Applied Science (HTW) in Berlin. One of her research focuses is the financing of offshore wind farms. Before joining the university in 2009, Prof. Balks worked for 14 years in leading positions at banks (Deutsche Bank AG, Dresdner Bank AG, Weberbank Actiengesellschaft) and management consultancies (A.T. Kearney, Ponton Consulting) with a focus on financial institutions. She obtained a diploma in Business Administration with a focus at Finance and Controlling from the Technical University of Dortmund (Germany) in 1990 and completed her doctorate in 1994 at the University of Cologne (Germany) on the topic of 'Environmental Policy from the Perspective of New Institutional Economics'.

The Economics of offshore wind farms is core part of the Master Program of Industrial Engineering and Management at HTW Berlin and of Offshore Wind Energy Master of Business Administration programme implemented jointly by University of Applied Science Bremerhaven and Business Academy Southwest.
