Research and Scientific Initiatives

We conduct a wide range of research activities, continually developing the research potential of our University.

The results of research are published in prestigious scientific journals and presented at national and international conferences.

To promote the results of our research, we also publish our own scientific journals and organise a number of nationally and internationally recognised scientific conferences.

Defined by the Sea

Gdynia Maritime University owns and operates three specialised training vessels. Foremost among them is the world-famous tall ship Dar Młodzieży our University's flagship, a symbol of Gdynia, and an exceptional ambassador for Poland. Our fleet also features Horyzont II, a modern research and training vessel built for polar expeditions, and IMOR, a specialised research ship equipped with cutting-edge marine technology.

From navigating the polar ice to crossing the world's vast oceans, our vessels serve as floating classrooms for the next generation of seafarers, whilst simultaneously supporting our scientists as they conduct vital research along the Polish coast.

The University’s fleet also includes the sailing yachts Nest, Almak, and Twins; motor yacht Imoros 3 and RIB-type boats Sportis and Zodiak.

Future seafarers learn the art of ship manoeuvring on the waters of Silm Lake.

Offshore

Gdynia Maritime University plays a vital role in building a local supply chain for the Polish offshore industry. We are a recognised leader in environmental research and the development of technical documentation for maritime projects, with a strong focus on offshore wind energy.

We educate future personnel for the offshore industry at
bachelor's, master’spostgraduate diploma, and MBA levels.

Gdynia Maritime University Centre for the Offshore Industry is Poland’s largest
and most advanced hub for offshore research and education.
The state-of-the-art facility serves as the headquarters for both the GMU Maritime Institute
