Under the Gdynia Maritime University Articles of Association, the award of doctoral and postdoctoral academic degrees is the responsibility of the Gdynia Maritime University Senate.

The scientific councils of Gdynia Maritime University responsible for matters connected with the award of academic degrees within each discipline are:

• Automation, Electronics, and Electrical Engineering - Scientific Council of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
• Civil Engineering and Transport - Scientific Council of the Faculty of Navigation,
