Department of Physics
The scientific activity of the Department of Physics focuses on issues in marine physics, particularly concerning the impact of technical activity at sea on the natural environment.
In recent years, the Department’s research has focused mainly on collecting data on disturbances in the light field within the seawater column and the near-surface layer of the atmosphere, caused by the presence of hydrocarbon substances entering the sea.
This information is used by centres studying marine processes with optical methods to assess measurement errors resulting from the presence of foreign substances in the marine environment.
