Research areas at the Department of Ship and Industrial Automation include: renewable energy and power electronics; electric automated ship propulsion systems; medium- and high-power converters; magnetically integrated modular converters; as well as electrical power conditioning systems; digital control methods and computer control algorithms for automated processes and converters; multidimensional control of a ship’s motion in three phases during various manoeuvres in confined waters; ship handling taking into account optimal and safe trajectories based on heuristic algorithms; design and simulation studies of ship automation systems; simulation and experimental research based on physical models.
