Electronic Map Lab and ECDIS System | Gdynia Maritime University

The laboratory includes a navigation and manoeuvring simulator NaviTrainer 5000 Professional paired with a NaviSailor 4000 Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS).

The manufacturer of the simulator is the company Transas, which is currently part of the Wärtsilä group.

The lab is used for lectures on navigation equipment attended by 1st-cycle (bachelor's) degree students of Maritime Transport for the study of ECDIS topics and Navigation Safety, and consists of six navigation bridges (in the configuration of a desktop bridge) and an instructor console with an integrated interactive board used to discuss classes before and after their completion.

The simulator uses a wide-ranging database of vector maps, extensive mathematical models of units and exercise waters.

This allows the simulator to accurately mimic the ship's reaction, behaviour and environment in actual conditions experienced at sea.
