Environmental Protection Laboratory

The Department of Environmental Protection has a well-equipped accredited research laboratory, which carries out physico-chemical analyses in inorganic and organic chemistry, as well as specific analyses in many environmental matrices:

  • Underground, surface and sea water
  • Drinking water
  • Rainwater and snowmelt
  • Municipal and industrial effluents
  • Soil
  • Soil and sewage sediments
  • Solid waste
  • Marine organisms and plants.

Services offered

The services offered by our laboratory include accredited testing of environmental samples and accredited sampling of the above matrices (except plant and animal samples). We also provide sampling containers and assistance in selecting appropriate test methods for different types of contaminants.

We carry out a range of accredited tests using the following techniques:

  • Gas chromatography (GC-MS, GC-FID),
  • Gas Chromatography with Headspace (HS-GC-MS)
  • Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry,
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry,
  • Atomic absorption spectrometry with amalgamation technique,
  • High temperature combustion with IR detection,
  • Ion chromatography,
  • Spectrophotometry,
  • Potentiometry,
  • Conductivity,
  • Titration techniques.

Among many specific analyses, the following studies deserve special attention:

  • Organotin compounds (MBT, DBT, TBT) in bottom sediments and soil
  • Bisphenol A, 17α-Ethinylestradiol, 17β-Estradiol in water and sewage
  • Contaminants in marine organisms and plants
  • Metals and non-metals in the flexible range.

The DEP Laboratory has several decades of experience in marine environmental research. Our extensive technical resources and a wide range of accredited methods ensure the highest quality of services at an attractive price.

Scope of Laboratory avtivities

All tests (accredited and non-accredited) performed in the DEP laboratory are covered by the laboratory management system and are included in the scope of laboratory activities.

Laboratory accreditation

The Environmental Protection Laboratory is accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation No. AB 646. The accreditation confirms that the Laboratory meets the requirements of the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02 standard with regard to the research methods included in the scope of accreditation.
