Honorary Patronage of the British Embassy over the Executive Offshore Wind MBA

The British Embassy Warsaw has granted Honorary Patronage to the Executive Offshore Wind MBA conducted by the Offshore Wind Energy Centre at Gdynia Maritime University.

Poland’s long-term challenge is to diversify its energy mix and its national renewable energy programme includes significant investments in offshore wind to achieve this goal. The UK has world-leading experience in this area. In 2020 offshore wind accounted for 13% of total UK electricity generation and the cumulative installed offshore wind capacity in the UK has already exceeded 11 gigawatts. The UK aims to achieve a target capacity of 40GW of offshore wind by 2030, including 1GW of floating wind.

Given the UK’s experience, British companies, institutes and academia have a lot to offer internationally. The British Embassy is actively working to increase the visibility of UK expertise and to connect the British offshore wind supply chain with opportunities in Poland. Among others, the Embassy’s activities include the study tour to the UK in 2018 and a series of technical workshops on different aspects of the offshore wind-farm project cycle in 2021. UK engineering consultancies already work with domestic developers supporting their offshore wind projects.

We are looking forward to working with the British Embassy in Warsaw on making the British know-how and experience available to the participants of the Executive Offshore Wind MBA.
