GMU's Innovations at the 'CLEVERFOOD for everyone' Exhibition

GMU's Innovations at the 'CLEVERFOOD for everyone' Exhibition

‘CLEVERFOOD for everyone’ is an exhibition that will be launched at the Gdynia Experyment Science Centre on 1 February 2025. Gdynia Maritime University will attend the event and present the innovative solutions of its scientists in functional nutrition, management and quality science, supply chain shortening, and local food production.

The Technology Transfer Office will be waiting to welcome all those who are interested in getting to know our innovations at the FoodExp Centre with the University's latest breakthroughs, including:

  • Dylli mobile app
  • Artisan ice cream with health-promoting potential
  • Corn-extrusion snacks with spirulina, chlorella and hemp protein
  • Natural fruit isotonic
  • Bread with exceptional health-promoting and satiety properties

All innovations presented during the event by the Technology Transfer Office are unique patented products. It is worth mentioning that in March 2024, the patented bread was presented at the cyclical Gdynia Innovation Days (GDYNIA I-DAYS) event promoting GMU inventions. The new product was given the Participants' Award, in particular for its outstanding taste, which those attending the event experienced in person. Gdynia Maritime University has entered into cooperation with one of the biggest baking companies in the Tricity area, baker and confectioner 'Pellowski' for the introduction of the product to the local market.

Natural isotonic drinks are a new addition to GMU's functional nutrition portfolio. They were developed in cooperation with local farmers as part of the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme for Poland, "Healthy, Safe, and Local Foods Directly from Farms – an Innovative Organisational Model for Food Production and its Introduction on the Local Market.”

The ‘CLEVERFOOD for everyone’ aims to promote healthy foods and will be the first event of its kind held in Poland. Gdynia is the only city that will host an exhibition created by experts from Ecsite – the European Network of Science Centres and Museums – led by the renowned Centro Ciência Viva of Lisbon.

The exhibition strives to emphasise the key role of food in our emotional and psychological lives. It is food that constitutes an important element of every celebration, helps to build relationships and is an important aspect of every culture and tradition.

The opening ceremony will provide an opportunity to sample unique dishes and local products produced at GMU. Additionally, the winner of Master Chef Junior Poland 2022, Hela Kołbucka, will give three culinary live shows. Additional presentations showing different approaches to sustainable cooking will be held by three renowned Tricity restaurants: Atelier Smaku, Biały Królik and Eliksir.

The honorary patrons of the ‘CLEVERFOOD for everyone’ are the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski; the Pomeranian Marshall, Mieczysław Struk; and the Mayor of Gdynia, Aleksandra Kosiorek.

The event is part of a project co-financed by the Horizon 2020 Funding Programme at the Experiment Science Centre and supports the transformation of European food systems towards a more sustainable, regenerative, and resilient future. The event supports Ecsite and promotes the Polish Presidency of the European Council.

We hope you'll join us at the event!
