Historic Ships

Historically, our students were trained on a diverse fleet of various builds and purposes. Our primary flagships were the large tall ships Łwów and its successor, Dar Pomorza. Specialized seamanship training took place on instrument ships Horyzont and Zenit (while their twin ships, Azymut and Nawigator, operated in Szczecin), while deep-sea fishermen were trained on the training trawler Jan Turlejski.

In the early post-WWII years, smaller sailing vessels were also used: Janek Krasicki, Zew Morza, and Henryk Rutkowski.

The last vessel on this list is a forgotten, modest Vistula steamboat, Kopernik. It served students from the Maritime School in Tczew, transporting them to Gdańsk to board the tall ship Łwów, which was stationed there.

During the golden era of the Polish merchant fleet, training also took place on large dual-purpose training-cargo ships: Antoni Garnuszewski (in Gdynia) and Kapitan Ledóchowski (in Szczecin).
