Offshore Geotechnics Department

The Offshore Geotechnics Department of the Maritime Institute is a unit focused on providing comprehensive geotechnical services for offshore wind energy projects. At the core of the Department stands a modern geotechnical laboratory adapted to perform the highest quality laboratory geotechnical analyses. The main objectives of the Laboratory are to provide substantive support to offshore research programmes and to cooperate with industry, mainly for seabed research - including offshore wind energy.

Modern equipment, highly qualified research staff, cooperation with experts in geotechnics and many years of experience guarantee the highest quality of the services provided. Regular training of the laboratory staff as well as systematic upgrading of the equipment and apparatus increase the laboratory's research capabilities.

The Offshore Geotechnics Department performs classification and index property tests alongside the strength and deformation testing in order to determine mechanical properties of the soils, provides expertise and prepares documentation for the foundation of offshore constructions.

More details about the laboratory's activities can be found at the laboratory web page.
