Foreign Languages Centre
The Foreign Languages Centre provides modern language courses in English, German, and Spanish. English forms part of all study programmes and is taught across all faculties as a professional language. Staff at the Foreign Languages Centre take part in conferences supported by GAME (German Association for Maritime English) and IMLA (International Maritime Lecturers Association), held around Europe.
The School of Physical Education and Sport
The School of Physical Education and Sport runs classes for students of all faculties. The school helps students stay active and improve their fitness through 12 sports sections, including football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, powerlifting, martial arts, water rescue, and sailing. Beyond scheduled classes, students have access to a range of sports facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, sports field, streetball court, corrective gymnastics hall, and a gym.
Library
GMU’s modern Main Library provides students with access to more than 100,000 titles, including textbooks, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, popular-science literature, and journals. The library is located in the University’s main building. Students can also make use of the Library’s online reading room with access to six specialist databases of international journals. The online VIRTUA Integrated Library Management System also allows for further titles to be borrowed from other libraries. At the Faculty of Navigation: A second branch of the library is based at the Faculty of Navigation. The library holds a unique collection of books and journals on topics related to Navigation.
