Department of Industrial Product Quality and Chemistry

Research at the Department of Industrial Product Quality and Chemistry is conducted in the following scientific areas:

  • Safe maritime transport of chemicals and bulk cargoes:
    • Research on the transport and technological properties of solid bulk cargoes
    • Risk assessment associated with the marine transport of hazardous chemical substances
    • Safe sea transport of hazardous chemicals and their biodegradation in seawater
    • Assessment of the liquefaction potential of metal ore concentrates, self-heating of solid bulk cargoes, and conditions for the transport of solid bulk cargoes
  • Biodegradation of polymer materials in natural environments:
    • Biodegradable polymer materials
    • Degradation of polymer materials in aquatic environments (including sea and pond water), composts, and body fluids
  • Recovery of materials and energy in a circular economy:
    • Management of polymer waste
    • Investigation of the impact of xenobiotics on the natural environment and development of prevention methods
    • Assessment of the impact of xenobiotics on activated sludge microorganisms and on water eutrophication
    • Respirometric test (OUR) and degradation in activated sludge
