The training and research ship Horyzont II is a unique vessel involved in conducting sea-going internships for navigators, marine engineers, and electrical and automation engineers.
The ship's construction and equipment comply with the requirements of international maritime conventions. The navigation bridge is fitted with independent student workstations, each equipped with repeaters of the bridge's navigational instruments, as well as a spacious manoeuvring and control centre.
Horyzont II is a multipurpose vessel. Besides student training, the vessel is also adapted for conducting marine research and navigation in the polar regions. Every year the ship transports scientists, equipment and supplies to Polish research stations on the island of Spitsbergen. GMU students also take part in the voyages as part of their sea-going internships.
