2nd Seafarers’ Careers Fair Held Successfully at GMU

Attractive internship and placement opportunities, 16 companies showcasing their vacancies, and strong student interest — that was the picture at the 2nd Seafarers’ Careers Fair at Gdynia Maritime University.

 

The second edition of the Seafarers' Careers Fair, which was held at the University’s main T. Meissner Auditorium, was opened by HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit, who spoke to the students for whom the careers fair was created and organised: 

Dear students, perhaps today you’ll meet an employer you’ll stay with for your entire career — and I sincerely wish you that. You’re rich in theoretical knowledge; you’ll gain practical experience with time.

I’d like to thank all the companies that accepted our invitation to take part in today’s event and that are interested in working with our students and graduates, who have turned out in such great numbers. Our graduates are excellently prepared for work at sea.

Also speaking to those taking part was the Director of the Ship Operations Department, Captain Dariusz Jellonnek:

Dear students, we’ve managed to bring together 16 exhibitors — the same as at the first edition of this event, which took place in January this year. During the Fair you have the chance to meet your dream future employer, and before that to find a ship where you can complete your cadet training placement.

Taking part in the event were Sambor Guze, Deputy Rector for Education and Student Affairs, and Filip Malata, GMU Chancellor.

The Seafarers’ Careers Fair was organised for all students on maritime programmes, particularly second- and third-year students. During the event, each company presented its business profile and internship opportunities at a dedicated stand.
