On 15 December 2025, Gdynia Maritime University opened its doors to its potential future students for an exceptional festive-themed Open Day. The event attracted more than 700 participants, who, together with the University’s academic community, kindled the Christmas spirit and learned about the education offered by Poland’s oldest maritime university.

The Festive Open Day was held both in the University’s main building on Morska Street and at the Faculty of Navigation near the seafront in the centre of Gdynia. Visitors took part in several lectures, workshops, and laboratory sessions, which in an accessible and inspiring way familiarised them with the University’s study programmes.

The primary focus of the event was the University’s main auditorium, where faculty representatives awaited visitors at specially prepared stands. Visitors had the chance to talk to lecturers, students, and University staff members, and get answers to questions concerning the admissions process in order to plan their future path in education.

There were also plenty of festive attractions to enjoy. Visitors were especially interested in decorating the University Christmas tree together, taking photos in a holiday-themed setting, and receiving a sweet treat from Santa – which brought smiles to visitors both younger and older.

We would like to warmly thank everyone who joined us in such great numbers, as well as the University’s staff and students for their tremendous commitment, help with organisation, and for creating such a special, welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to you, the GMU Festive Open Day was not only an opportunity to get to know the University but also a truly festive gathering for our academic community.

See you again at a future event at Gdynia Maritime University!
