American Foreign Policy and Military Affairs Expert Ian Brzezinski gave a talk during the 2nd Conference on Autonomous Transport on maritime transport safety in the Baltic Sea. The expert also met with a group of University officials led by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit.

On 9 December 2025, the 2nd Autonomous Transport was held at the Faculty of Navigation of Gdynia Martime University. The Conference was opened by HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit, Head of the Scientific Commmittee. The participants were then welcomed by the Head of the Conference’s Organisation Committee, Professor Zbigniew Burciu.

The conference has become a recurring event, addressing research challenges relating to autonomous vehicles, their design, and operation. It provides a forum for the presentation and exchange of views, research findings, and the implementation of new technologies in the field of autonomous transport.

The aim of this year's event was to present the achievements of research institutes, academic centres and industry in the area of maritime, land, and air transport autonomy, as well as related technological solutions.

The Conference welcomed as its special guest Ian Brzezinski, who gave a talk on maritime transport safety in the Baltic Sea. The American expert on American foreign policy and military affairs also attended a meeting with University leaders, including HM The Rector, Professor Adam Weintrit.

During the visit, which was also attended — at the invitation of HM The Rector — by Marek Strosin, a retired US Navy captain and naval aviator and an expert in naval defence policy, guests were presented with information on the education offered at GMU. They also learned about the University’s key research projects, the principal areas of cooperation with the maritime and technology industries, and more.

The scope of this year’s Conference was expanded to include presentations by speakers from Jagiellonian University, Nicolaus Copernicus University and the University of Gdańsk, focusing on legal aspects. The Conference was also attended by the Representative of the Minister of Infrastructure for Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), who outlined the legislative work conducted by the Ministry.

Invited to co-organise this year’s event, which covered all modes of transport, were the  Faculty of Transport at Warsaw University of Technology and the Motor Transport Institute.

The achievements of Polish and international companies in the field of autonomous vehicles and their applications were also presented (SR Robotics, ENAMOR, AEVEX Aerospace, SEA MACHINES).

The 2nd Autonomous Transport took place following the University’s December Celebration Day.
