Offshore Wind Programmes

Gdynia Maritime University offers a comprehensive portfolio of programmes designed to prepare graduates for careers in the rapidly expanding offshore wind sector. Study options span bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate levels, including the University's prestigious Executive Offshore Wind MBA programme.

BACHELOR’S PROGRAMMES

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Programme: Operation and Diagnostics of Technical Systems
Specialisation: Wind Power Plant Operation Management
Study mode: Full-time/Part-time
The specialisation develops engineering and managerial competences for supervising projects related to the construction and operation of onshore and offshore wind farms. The curriculum prepares graduates to plan, organise and manage supporting processes associated with offshore wind farm construction, as well as core processes related to wind power plant operation. The profile of competences also supports career opportunities beyond the wind energy sector.

MASTER’S PROGRAMMES

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

Programme: Offshore Wind Energy
The programme delivers up-to-date specialist knowledge and qualifications in the design, lifecycle and operation of modern wind energy installations (onshore and offshore), including engineering supervision and research skills. Depending on the chosen pathway, graduates develop advanced competences in one of four areas: nautical operations, asset operation and maintenance, project/organisational management, or digital integration of offshore wind farms. Graduates are prepared for roles across the wind energy ecosystem, including technical and diagnostic facilities, offshore-related maritime transport, public administration and R&D units, and energy companies involved in energy conversion, distribution and grid integration.

The programme offers the following pathways:

Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Programme: Electrical Engineering
Specialisation: Renewable Energy Sources and E-mobility
Mode of Study: Full-time/Part-time
The specialisation prepares graduates to select renewable fuels/energy carriers for electric drive systems and assess performance and efficiency. In e-mobility, the curriculum covers electric vehicle drive systems, mobile power supply systems for electric drivetrains, and selected topics in automotive electronics and IT.

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Risk Management in Offshore Extraction and Offshore Wind Industries

The programme develops industry-ready competence to identify, analyse and control risk across offshore projects in offshore oil and gas and offshore wind. Over two semesters and 220 contact hours, delivered in weekend blocks at the University’s Faculty of Navigation, the curriculum covers international standards and project risk frameworks, legal and economic conditions, risk methodology, hazard identification and elimination, quantitative and qualitative assessment, and monitoring and control – culminating in case studies based on real offshore projects. Electives allow a deeper focus in areas such as critical infrastructure and cybersecurity, technical safety, project software, statistics, and soft skills (an optional PRINCE2® Foundation course with certification exam is available for an additional fee). The programme is designed for engineers, project managers and HSE professionals seeking a rigorous, practice-led pathway into the offshore and renewable sectors.
