Director of the Ship Management Office

Dariusz Jellonnek, MSc(Eng), Master Mariner


Graduate of the Faculty of Navigation at Gdynia Maritime Higher School (1992), Chair of the Management Board of the Polish Shipping Companies Association, Director of the GMU Ship Management Office.

As a student of the Maritime Higher School, he spent six months on the "Dar Młodzieży", as well as taking part in voyages on the "Zenit" and "Horyzont" training ships. During his sea-going career, he gained more than 20 years working on various types of ships, including more than 14 years as a captain (including for British shipping company Stephenson Clarke Shipping Ltd - SCS). He was actively involved in the implementation of changes brought about by the ISM Code, introducing new systems on board SCS vessels. He also has a wealth of experience in ship repairs, renovations, and audits.

In 2013, he began work as a training superintendent for the management of V.Ships Germany and V.Ships UK. During the same period, he also began cooperating with V.Ships Poland and served as a quality manager. He is the leading ISO 9001 auditor and the internal auditor of the ISM/ISPS/MLC.

He later went on to manage the V.Ships Poland office as general manager for seven years and was responsible for collaborating with the company's technical offices, providing crews for offshore ships, tankers, dry ships and passenger ships. During this time, V.Ships Poland grew from a medium enterprise to one of the biggest crewing companies in Poland, with more than 90 employees.

Beginning in 2022, he held the role of deputy director of human resources at Polish Baltic Shipping. He created a programme for deck and engineering cadets on Polferries vessels.

In recent years, Captain Jellonnek has worked with Gdynia Maritime University, lecturing on crew management on postgraduate courses on Modern Ship Management.

He has served as President of the Management Board of the Polish Association of Shipping Entrepreneurs for the past four years. He contributed to the work of the Tripartite Team at the Ministry of Infrastructure as an expert, cooperates with the European Association of Shipowners of the ECSA, and is a member of the Audit Committee of the Association of Master Mariners.
