Ship Manoeuvring and Navigation Simulator Lab

The SimFlex Navigator simulator, developed by FORCE Technology (Denmark), is used to conduct training in ship manoeuvring, navigation, towing operations, emergency response, and bridge team management, in accordance with the STCW Convention and IMO guidelines. The system can also simulate a variety of hydrometeorological and traffic conditions.

The simulator comprises three bridges, each replicating realistic ship-handling environments:

Full Mission Bridge – equipped with a 240° visualisation system using projectors, binoculars, and a virtual CCTV camera. It features an integrated Nacos Platinum ship management system that includes radar (ODRAR), ECDIS, a route planning station, and a Conning Display. The bridge also contains control consoles (for anchor operations, navigation lights, and signal control), communication systems (two radios, intercoms, public announcement panel, NAVTEX receiver), as well as ship instrumentation, autopilot, GPS receiver, and sonar. It also supports the simulation of power and failure management systems for selected vessel models.

Part Task Bridge – fitted with a 110° television-based visualisation system and Nacos Platinum components (Conning Display, radar, and ECDIS). It includes a control console, radio telephone, and ship instrument indicators, providing students with a realistic environment for practising essential navigational procedures.

This advanced simulator allows students to experience the complexity of ship operations and bridge coordination in conditions that closely replicate those encountered at sea.
