GMU Attends Conference for 15th Anniversary of Research and Development Centre
At the invitation of the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), Gdynia Maritime University took part in the conference "Innovation Horizon - 15 Years of NCBR" on 27-28th October.
Representing the University were Anna Pawlak (Department of Science), Oksana Kuźmiuk (Department for Cooperation and Development) and Michał Kołodziejczak (Promotion and Communications Office).
Over the two days, the current activities of the NCBR were summarised, and discussions were held with market experts on current topics, and the directions of the Centre's activities, including in connection with the EU's new financial perspective.
As a beneficiary of the scheme, GMU presented projects carried out at the University in the last 15 years with the support of the NCBR, and in particular, as requested, the "Clean Sea Academy" project (managed by Dr Alina Dereszewska), which aimed at raising awareness among primary school pupils and their parents of the problem of surface water pollution and developing a sense of ecological responsibility in this area. The project was financed by the Operational Programme "Knowledge, Education, Development" [Wiedza Edukacja Rozwój] and was carried out within the Faculty of Management and Quality Science between 1st August 2018 and 29th October 2020.
During the past 15 years, Gdynia Maritime University has completed and implemented 26 projects funded by the National Maritime Centre (NCBR) from various funds, including:
as part of the Operational Programme "Knowledge, Education, Development":

- SezAM wiedzy, kompetencji i umiejętności.
As part of the MarTERA ERA-NET COFUND initiative:
- ASTRA A tool for strategic risk assessment for the waterways based on the principles-driven method,
- Collision Avoidance Domain-Method used by Ships and Ashore CADMUSS,
- Ship Routing Accounting for Changeable Sea Conditions.
As part of the "Testing applied" programme, co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for the years 2014 - 2021, POLNOR 2019:
- Marine port surveillance and observation system using mobile unmanned research units MPSS,
- Detection, prediction and solutions for safe operations of MASS, ENDURE.
As part of the Smart Development scheme:
- "Innovation Incubator 4.0 - Support for the management of scientific research and commercialisation of the results of R&D work in scientific units and enterprises,"
- The development of an innovative method for determining the precise trajectories of a rail vehicle (FTRACK).
The "Innovation Horizon - 15 Years of the NCBR" conference was also an opportunity to present the possibilities for cooperation in research and development on offer at Gdynia Maritime University, exchange experiences, and establish contacts with various institutions from the worlds of business and education.
