Implementation of HRS4R Strategy at GMU
In September 2018, Gdynia Maritime University was recognised with the HR Excellence in Research Award.
Key benefits of the HR Excellence in Research Award:
- Increased attractiveness of employment at the University, which creates a favourable research working environment and respects open, transparent and merit-based recruitment principles;

Stage 1. Activities aimed at obtaining the HR Excellence in Research Award (2017–2018)
2017
Letter of Endorsement – submission of the document confirmed the launch of activities at GMU aimed at obtaining the HR Excellence in Research Award.
The European Commission confirmed receipt of GMU’s declaration.
Work on the HR Strategy for Researchers:
- questionnaire survey;
- survey report;
- consultations with doctoral candidates.
A series of seminars at four GMU faculties presenting the activities being carried out.
Meeting with faculty deans and HR Department staff to present the activities being carried out.
Establishment of the Team for Monitoring the Implementation of the HR Strategy for GMU Researchers.
2018
Submission of the Gap Analysis and Action Plan to the European Commission.
GMU received the HR Excellence in Research Award.
Stage 2. Implementation of the Action Plan (2019–2023)

Submission of the Interim Report.
2021
Continued work on the implementation and monitoring of the HR Strategy.
Adoption of the new GMU Statute.

Adoption of the Action Plan for Gender Equality.

Development of the Internal Review for Renewal Assessment.
Surveys conducted among academic staff and doctoral candidates of the Doctoral School.
Revision of the HR Strategy for GMU Researchers and development of the Action Plan for 2024–2026.
Development of the “Regulations Governing the Activities of Recruitment Committees Appointed for the Recruitment of Academic Staff at GMU” (OTM-R).
Stage 3. Implementation of the Updated Action Plan (2024–2026)

Adoption of the Regulations Governing the Activities of Recruitment Committees Appointed for the Recruitment of Academic Staff at GMU (OTM-R).
Appointment of the Research Ethics Committee and adoption of its rules of procedure.

Adoption of the Regulations Governing the Activities of Recruitment Committees Appointed for the Recruitment of Non-Academic Staff at GMU (OTM-R).
Preparation of an updated report on completed activities.
