Working Student

Area North Hapag-Lloyd consists of offices in: Poland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Job location: Gdańsk, Al. Grunwaldzka 413 (Neon building)

Hapag-Lloyd Area North in the office in Gdańsk is looking for eager to learn and develop students who would like to start their careers helping our departments in the daily tasks. We seek for new employees in two departments:

  • Operations: Daily carrier operations activities like arranging and monitoring containers movement, support in load/discharge list preparations, vendor invoices handlings, vessel and berthing operations, inland transport execution, cost control, system updates and equipment steering.

We are seeking:

  • Proactive, team player with great organizational skills
  • Student who can work minimum of 30-35 hours per week, ideally 40 hours.

 If you have:

  • The ability to work under pressure in a fast-changing environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PPT).
  • Very good command of written and spoken English and Polish (B2 level or more).

Nice to have:

  • Previous work experience or student internship in Transport
  • You have been studying Shipping, Maritime Organization of Seaborne Trade, Foreign Trade, Logistics or similar (last years).

In addition:

  • You have always wanted to work within international environment.
  • You are interested in shipping business and want to learn from the best.
  • You want to become acquainted with the processes in a modern service company, acquire specialist skills and gain practical experience.

Working Conditions

  • Flexible working hours (start from 7:00 till 9:30)
  • Hybrid work after onboarding (2 days from home, 3 days from the office)
  • Hourly paid contract (umowa zlecenie), 33 PLN/hour
  • Underground parking for bicycles and changing room for bikers.
  • Reimbursement for the monthly tickets (80 PLN)
  • Pizza Fridays' and occasional team-building events for integration.

What does the recruitment process for that position look like?

1. HR Screening: once we get your CV, we’ll have a phone call. During this conversation, you can learn more about the company and your role. The call is also for us to learn more about you and talk about your expectations. We make sure the conversation is concrete but also very informal and friendly. Duration about 15 min.

2. Interview with your potential Manager and HR: you will have the chance to meet your future leader and know more about job details. Duration about 30 min.


3. If both sides say yes – we will sign a contract and you will be a part of Hapag-Lloyd team!
