Sitting of the IAMU International Executive Board at the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (Rauma) in Finland.

Meeting chaired by newly elected Chair of the IEB, Professor Adam Weintrit.


13th/14th February 2023
Sitting of the IEB in Tokyo, Japan  

HM The President of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit, was elected general Chair of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and also the Head of the Policy and Planning Committee during an extraordinary sitting of the International Executive Board (IEB) in Tokyo.

IEB members also elect the Association's Standing Committees members for the years 2023-2025.


1st – 2nd February 2023

Dr Piotr Kopacz Of GMU’s Faculty of Navigation conducts a site visit at the Faculty of Marine Studies of the University of Montenegro in Kotor.

The audit is an important part of the application process to become an IAMU member

IAMU Annual General Assembly in Batumi, Georgia

The 22nd edition of the Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) was held at Batumi State Maritime Academy.

Professor Adam Weintrit - GMU President and Head of the IAMU Academic Affairs Committee Professor and Dr Adam Przybyłowski - IAMU Contact Person at GMU and Head of the IAMU Research Projects working group, took part in the sitting of the International Executive Board (IEB).

The President of GMU took part in the Annual General Assembly, where:

  • The composition of the International Executive Board was approved for the next term of office
  • GMU was included in the pool of At Large Representatives

Elections
 are held among the group of members from Europe and Africa Region 1

The University of Rijeka was elected to succeed GMU as head of the region for the period 2023-2025.

GMU delegation attends IAMU conference in Egypt

The topic of the conference was “Innovation and Sustainability of Maritime Industry in the Scope of Blue Economy and Green Concept”.


2021 - Deputy Chair of the International Association of Maritime Universities, Glenn Blackwood, gifts maps of the Polar Regions to GMU

The maps were hung on the wall of the Ship Management Office by GMU President Adam Weintrit and Director of the Ship Management Office, Dr Bogumił Łączyński.

GMU hosts “MET During Covid-19” webinar

Opened by GMU President and Chair of the IAMU Academic Affairs Committee Adam Weintrit. 
The webinar was moderated by Dr Adam Przybyłowski, IAMU Contact person at GMU. The Vice President for Science, Dr Dariusz Barbucha, presented a paper entitled “Selected issues of e-learning”. Also taking part were the Vice-President for Cooperation and Development, Dr Tomasz Tarasiuk, the Vice President for Education, Dr Sambor Guze, and the Director of the Ship Management Office, Dr Bogumił Łączyński.

GMU Students attend IAMU Annual General Assembly in Barcelona

Six students from the Faculties of Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Navigation attended the IAMU conference in Barcelona.
Students attended lectures and two students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering presented a paper, including the results of research carried out in GMU laboratories.


11th- 16th February 2018
Gdynia Maritime Academy (GMA) Deputy Rector for Science, Dr Ireneusz Czarnowski, travels to Tokyo to attend the sitting of the International Executive Board (IEB).

Dr Czarnowski presented areas of cooperation between IAMU and GMA as well as assumptions for the peer-review system.

GMA attends the sitting of the International Executive Board in Varna.

GMA contributed to the work of IEB for the second time. This time as Head of the Academic Affairs Committee for the term 2016-2017.

IAMU Annual General Assembly in Vietnam

Held at Haiphong Maritime University. The Association at this point comprised 62 member institutions.
Assembly attended by Prof Bogumił Łączynski and Prof Adam Weintrit.

IAMU Conference in Rijeka

Conference attended by students from the Faculty of Navigation scientific circle “Nawigator”. The students’ paper entitled “Admiralty Law – Marine Environment Protection or Trade Development” is recognised as one of the top three works presented.

IAMU Annual General Assembly, Romania

Hosted by Constanta Maritime University
The principal topic of the Assembly was “New Technological Alternatives to Enhancing Economic Efficiency.”


12th – 14th June 2011
12th IAMU Annual General Assembly, Gdynia

Hosted by GMA under the motto “Green Ships, Eco Shipping, Clean Seas”.
Representatives of 45 institutions attended the 3-day event which included a sitting of the International Executive Board, AGA12, the presentation of 34 scientific papers, as well as workshops for students.

IAMU Secretary General Hisashi Yamamoto visits Gdynia

The Secretary-General attended the Inauguration of the Academic Year on the “Dar Młodzieży” where he congratulated GMA Rector Józef Lisowski.

2nd Annual General Assembly, Japan

Hosted by Kobe University Mercantile Marine.
The Maritime Higher School in Gdynia is represented by Dr Bogumił Łączyński, Dr Adam Weintrit, and Adam Przybyłowski. In addition to plenary proceedings, and the presentation of scientific papers, there were meetings of working groups on Maritime Education and Training, Maritime Safety Management, and Promoting Global Maritime Excellence.
